Description
A 10 metre 16A extension lead with blue industrial (BS EN 60309) plug and socket, the round three-pin connector fitted to most portable generators. Use it to put distance between the generator and your serving area.
Features & Benefits
- 10 metres of 1.5mm cable.
- 16A blue industrial plug and socket to BS EN 60309.
- IP44 splash-proof — fine in rain and spray on an open pitch.
- Arctic grade blue cable — stays flexible in the cold, so it coils and uncoils cleanly on a winter morning.
- Each lead is individually tested before it leaves.
- Check the socket on your generator first. The plug on this lead must match it: 13A is the square three-pin domestic plug, 16A is the round blue industrial plug, 32A is the larger round blue plug and 63A is the largest.

Frequently asked questions
How much power can this 16A lead carry?
Up to 16A at 230V, which is about 3.7kW (16 × 230 = 3,680W). Add up the wattage of everything plugged in at the far end and keep the total below that figure. If it comes out higher, you need a lead and a generator outlet with a higher amp rating.
Will this lead fit my generator?
It fits any generator with a blue 16A industrial socket (BS EN 60309), the round three-pin outlet fitted to most portable generators. On the GB4000HL, use the blue 230V socket: the yellow socket is 115V and takes a different plug. If your equipment has normal 13A plugs, add a 16A to 4 × 13A fly lead at the far end.
What does IP44 mean on an extension lead?
IP44 means the plug and socket are protected against water splashing from any direction, so they cope with rain on an open pitch. They are not sealed against standing water. If the connection could end up in a puddle or a wash-down area, choose the 16A IP67 watertight lead instead.
Should I unwind the lead fully before use?
Yes. Always uncoil the whole lead before you switch on. Cable left in a coil cannot shed heat, and under a heavy load it can overheat.
