Frequently asked questions

How much power can this 32A lead carry?

Up to 32A at 230V, which is about 7.4kW (32 × 230 = 7,360W). Add up the wattage of everything plugged in at the far end and keep the total below that figure. If it comes out higher, you need a lead and a generator outlet with a higher amp rating.

Will this lead fit my generator?

It fits generators with a blue 32A industrial socket, the larger round three-pin outlet. A 16A plug will not go into a 32A socket, and a 32A plug will not go into a 16A one. The GB12000VL AS auto-start generator can be built with a 32A outlet. Check the outlet on your own machine before you order.

What does IP67 mean on an extension lead?

IP67 means the connectors are dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water, as long as the plug is fully mated or the cap is closed. That makes this lead the safer choice on wet ground, near wash-down areas and at all-weather events. For sheltered or dry pitches, the 32A IP44 lead costs less.

Should I unwind the lead fully before use?

Yes. Always uncoil the whole lead before you switch on. Cable left in a coil cannot shed heat, and under a heavy load it can overheat.
