EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 Review: Can It Run a Catering Trailer? (2026)
Last updated: October 2026
The EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 stores 4,096Wh and delivers 4,000W, from £2,622.80. It is the biggest battery we stock, and it can run a small catering trailer’s electrics for a day.
For UK mobile caterers, it is the standard quiet-power choice when lights, fridges and a till must run without engine noise. It is widely regarded as the wrong tool for heat, so keep cooking on propane.
In 30 seconds:
- It runs lights, fridges, a till, a card reader and a pump for about a day.
- It handles up to 4,000W at once, with an 8,000W surge.
- A 900W roller grill drains it in about 4.5 hours, and a 2.7kW coffee machine in about 1.5 hours.
- It is silent compared with a generator: 30dB at 2,000W.
- It will not replace propane for fryers, griddles or boilers.
- It weighs 51.5kg, so plan a fixed spot in the trailer.

Who the DELTA Pro 3 is for
It suits a trailer or van where several electric items run together and noise matters. Think wedding pitches, evening markets and venues that ban generators.
It also suits a trader who wants a silent back-up for the fridges. The 10ms switchover keeps cold stock safe if the mains drops.
If you only run lights and a card reader, a smaller unit is enough. Our portable power station guide covers the cheaper EcoFlow sizes.
Can it run a catering trailer?
Yes, if the trailer cooks on propane and uses electricity for everything else. The answer changes the moment you plug in a heating appliance.
Divide 4,096Wh by the watts you pull. This gives best-case hours. Inverter losses make real figures a little shorter.
| What you run | Watts | Best-case hours |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge, lights and card reader | 100W | about 41 hours |
| Hot dog roller grill | 900W | about 4.5 hours |
| Steamer and roller grill together | 1,900W | about 2 hours |
| Plug-in 1-group espresso machine | 2,700W | about 1.5 hours |
| Maximum output | 4,000W | about 1 hour |
The roller grill and steamer figures come from our hot dog steamer guide. The coffee machine figure is the 2.7kW rating of the Fracino Bambino 1 Group.
Where it beats a generator
- Noise: 30dB at 2,000W, quieter than a running fridge.
- No fumes: there is no exhaust, so it is safe to site close to a serving hatch.
- No fuel runs: you recharge from the mains or solar instead.
- Instant backup: the 10ms switchover protects fridges and tills during a power cut.
- Event rules: some markets and venues restrict generators but allow batteries.
Where it loses to a generator
- Heat: a battery cannot supply fryers, griddles or boilers for a full service.
- Recharging: after a long day you need mains or strong sun to refill it. We do not quote a charge time because it is not in the spec we hold.
- Weight: 51.5kg is heavy to move on and off a trailer.
- Price: a dedicated LPG generator gives far more energy per pound. See what size LPG generator you need.
The best setup: propane for heat, battery for electrics
Most trailers should split the load. Propane cooks, heats water and fires the fryers. The DELTA Pro 3 runs the quiet, steady electrics.
The Fracino Atlantis Mini Gas is the only UK LPG water boiler, which keeps even your hot water off the battery. Our off-grid mobile catering setup guide shows how to plan the whole trailer.
What you need before you buy
- A written list of every appliance and its watts
- A mains point or solar plan to recharge between days
- A fixed, strapped-down spot that stays above 0°C when charging
- 13A leads rated for the load
The biggest mistake: buying it to replace propane
Many traders see 4,000W and assume it can run a griddle all day. It cannot. At that draw it is flat in about an hour.
The second mistake is winter charging. The unit will not charge below 0°C, so a frozen trailer overnight means a slow start. Keep it somewhere warm, and add up your loads before you commit.
FAQ
Can the EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 run a catering trailer?
It can run the electric side of a trailer: lights, fridges, a till, a card reader, a water pump and a few small appliances, up to 4,000W in total. It cannot replace propane for griddles, fryers or boilers, because heat empties 4,096Wh in a couple of hours.
How long will it run a fridge?
A fridge pulling a constant 100W would use the full 4,096Wh in about 41 hours. Compressors switch on and off, so real draw is lower than the label rating. Add lights and a card reader and plan on roughly a full trading day.
Can it run a plug-in espresso machine?
A 2.7kW one-group machine sits inside the 4,000W limit, but it would drain the battery in about 1.5 hours of constant heating. That suits a short stall. For a full day of coffee, use a mains hook-up or a generator.
Can it run an electric fryer or griddle?
Only if the total draw stays under 4,000W, and then only for a short spell. Heating appliances use energy faster than any battery can store it. This is why we recommend propane for fryers, griddles and boilers.
Is it quieter than a generator?
Yes. EcoFlow quotes 30dB at 2,000W output, which it describes as quieter than a running fridge. There is no engine, no exhaust and no refuelling. That helps on quiet evening pitches and at events that restrict generators.
Can I use and charge it in winter?
It discharges from -10°C to 45°C, so it keeps working in a cold trailer. It charges only from 0°C to 45°C. Bring it into a warm space before plugging in on a frosty morning.
Is it worth the extra over a smaller EcoFlow?
Choose it when your loads pass 1,800W, which is the DELTA 3 limit, or when you need far more than 1,024Wh. If you only run lights and a till, a smaller unit costs much less. The portable power station guide above compares all four sizes.
How heavy is the DELTA Pro 3?
It weighs about 51.5kg and measures roughly 410 x 341 x 693mm. Treat it as a fixed unit that you strap down in the trailer, not something you carry to every pitch. Lift it with two people.
