Frequently asked questions

Which size Fracino water filter do I need?
Match the unit to your machine: the 5L DSU suits 1-group machines, the 10L DSU suits 2-group machines and the 18L DSU suits 3–4 group machines. If you are between sizes or in a very hard water area, choose the larger unit.

How often should the water treatment unit be replaced?
Fracino recommends replacing the unit every 8–12 months. As a guide, at 200 ppm hardness the 5L unit treats around 3,000 litres, the 10L around 6,000 litres and the 18L around 10,000 litres — replace sooner in very hard water areas.

Do I need a water filter for my Fracino coffee machine?
In hard water areas, yes. Limescale is the leading cause of espresso machine boiler and element failure, and effective water treatment is required to maintain your Fracino machine’s warranty protection.
